"Depends on the person." She replied, her voice calm and neutral. The lighter was in the back of her mind, as always, but she shoved that thought aside. No, she would not burn him in a bookstore. That was asking to be arrested. At the moment, the odds were slim she would burn him at all. Much easier to steal a book and burn that.

"would I happen to be that kind of person?" I ask in a flat voice.

"I don't know you. I happened to notice your phone, that was why I was staring. Why else would I be staring at you?" Her eyes scanned the bookshelf, searching for a book she could easily conceal.

"what's so interesting about my phone?" I watch her scan over the books. "get a dictionary, their better for burning."

"Nothing, just noticed it." She decided on a small dictionary, big enough to be worth burning but not too big for her to hide. "Thanks for the advice." Using her nails but careful not to leave the sticky residue behind, she quickly peeled off the barcode, faking like she was still scanning the books. Careful to keep herself in the way of anyone who was watching, she stuck the barcode to the top of the shelf and checked for any other safety devices. She put it back on the shelf, then continued on like she was still scanning. Yes, it would be much more simple to just grab the book and run, but she wanted to be sure she wouldn't be caught. Her record was clear so far and with any luck it would stay that way. Not that she hadn't done anything illegal, she was just good at not getting caught.

"if they catch you, blame it on me, I've got a record so it doesn't matter."

"Fine by me. Mind if I ask what for?" She returned to the book after scanning the whole shelf, looking at the book once again. Hopefully this had fooled anyone watching her. If not, she had her scapegoat. Who apparently didn't mind.

"Nice. I think we've all done that before." That was her way of saying that's not that bad. So he got caught drunk. Big deal. She flipped through it some more, making sure to pull off the act.

Celeste heard him, but barely. "Really now? Murder? What was your reason behind that?" Not 'oh my god you killed someone!?!' or 'Ok then...' then calmly walk off and freak out later. She didn't really care. She'd done the same thing before, both in fact, but she never got caught. Yes, with the suicide she was taken to the hospital and they asked her what happened but she simply lied and said someone tried to kill her... Which wasn't a total lie. In fact, the best lies were based on some form of the truth.

"killed my twin, he was always better then me, sure I realize now it was wrong, but seriously, when I was 13 I didn't care, I just wanted him dead."

She nodded. "I killed my brother. He was always a dick and I finally got sick of it one day, waited for him to get drunk as usual, chained him to his bed and burned the house down. I don't really feel that it was wrong, yeah killing him probably wasn't the right thing to do but I did. It can't be changed so why bother thinking about it?"

"Exactly." She slipped the book into her jacket, making sure no one saw her. "You can come if you want." Walking calmly as usual, she walked through the security alarms and out the door.
